Title: Warrior Poet

Age: 42

Sun Sign: Cancer

Chinese Sign: Fire Goat

Location: Where I choose to be, and where the Kosmos places me.

About Me:

Location -

I have received numerous requests as to my current geographical location. Since an esoteric answer in relation to the Kosmos (alright, it is a big place, yet so small) address, here it is by popular demand. El Paso. There is no place like it on earth, with the blending of cultures and natural beauty (and New Mexico so close). We will move to Kansas in early January 2009 - I will miss the desert, but undoubtedly find beauty and inspiration on the Plains and in the Flint Hills.  As irony has it, we move from the end of the Santa Fe Trail to the beginning of the Trail.

Internal Inspiration -

My entire being detests oppression of free thought.  Ironically, I have subjugated most of my adult life to harsh discipline and logical reasoning - all in the name of safeguarding liberty.

Words are valuable, and have great meaning and convey thoughts and ideas.  However, words are also meaningless unless those who utter or scribe them are willing to put action behind said words.  I am a person of action.  I believe in standing behind my convictions and taking action to change the world.  My goal is to be one who has the courage!

“And thus the Spirit has, for the first time in evolution, looked through your eyes and seen a global world, a world that is decentered from the me and the mine, a world that demands care and concern and compassion and conviction - a Spirit that is unfolding its own intrinsic value and worth, but a Spirit that announces itself only through the voice of those who have the courage to stand in the worldcentric space and defend it against lesser and shallower engagements.”-KW, A Brief History of Everything

Longterm Credibility -

When all is said and done, I want to live a life where I can look my children confidently in the eye and tell them I took part and sacrificed to make the world and our species better for future generations.  I do not believe in money, I believe in “right.”

“Warrior Poet” -

My musings are found in my blog.  Please feel free to peruse the musings.  I began at zaadz as “Guardian of Liberty.”  I rediscovered me - which I suspect will happen again, and again….  Through the help of a zaadz friend (this evolution can be found in the  blog), I discovered “Warrior Poet” is better suited for now.  I write poetry, ergo I am a poet.  The meaning of “Warrior”? Flip through my photos long enough and you will find the answer.

December 2008:  I have added a new form of poetic expression to my repetoire.  Now, I am blessed to create musical poetry with a Native Flute.

Featured Poem -

I am often asked which of my poems is also my favorite.  What a wonderful and insightful question!  While I am neutral to most of the poems once they are created, every so often on a re-read, one really strikes my fancy.  I do love to re-read the poems I have written, and that is why they largely make up my blog - each takes me back to the thoughts and insights I had at the time.  Like a reminder of a smell, the poems are a soul reminder spell.  So, perhaps my current favorite is a small beacon of where I am currently located on the map, so I will share my current favorite here -

Spirit Corral

Education -

I have been blessed to have been taught through experience by our planet and those who inhabit it.  I am a result of past interaction of people and environment, and hence my past includes the places in which I have lived and worked - Northeast Ohio, Western Kentucky, Southeast Alabama, Southern California, Interior Alaska, Maryland, Eastern Kansas, Central and Western Texas, Sweden, Korea, and Iraq.  The only continent I have not set foot upon is Antartica.   I do not relate this to impress, rather, to indicate some of the vast experience with which I have been blessed.  My formal collegiate pursuits (types of degrees is too pretentious for my taste) include Anthropology, International Relations, Economics, Human Resources, and Organization Development.

It goes without saying, that I learn from my family each and every day, and they have been the most enlightening and professors of life for which anyone could ask!

Soul Food -

I am a very blessed father and devoted husband, and we are always on the move.  We love adventure, experiencing new places, and learning together.

Summary of my Outlook on Life:

“If you're bent wi' arthritis,
Your bowels have got Colitis,
You've gallopin' bollockitis,
And you're thinkin' it's time you died.
If you been a man 'o action,
Though you're lying there in traction,
You will get some satisfaction
Thinkin', “Jesus, at least I tried.”

I've roamed through all the nations
In delight of all creations,
And enjoyed a wee sensation,
Where the company, it was kind.
And when partin' was no pleasure,
I've drunk another measure,
To the good friends that we treasure
For they always are in our mind.”
- Silly Wizard, “The Ramblin' Rover”
