Freedom Heroes

Followers of freedom always looking for a hero.
Desperately seeking in fictional writing or movie,
even searching for that person on a reality television show.
Marvelous flesh that is strong, handsome, pretty, and bright,
embodiment of bravery, always willing to face evil toe to toe.

True heroes of Freedom are more subtle and sure.
Understanding reality, diligently doing what is required, they
are difficult to discern, since one litmus is a soul that is pure.
Heroes of Freedom look beyond cultural groups and nations,
understanding Freedom is deeper than a flag of red, white, and azure.

True heroes of Freedom are more subtle in their artistic toils,
these are not the ones through fame in works hanging in the Louvre,
but artists who share true  meaning in watercolors and oils.
Not for personal gain or money, but freedom of expression,
they capture the spirit of Freedom found in skies, waters, and soils

True heroes of Freedom unselfishly guide, mentor, and teach,
public servants spanning from educators and clergy to firefighters and police,
opportunity through education and spirit, public safety and order they beseech.
Not for self do they serve, or for recognition, but only concern.
Through loving and guidance, these heroes show all Freedom is in reach.

True heroes of Freedom swear loyalty to defend and know the fight,
these are not the ones who violently perish or awarded for the spectacular,
but the ones who tirelessly face drudgery and fear knowing freedom is might.
Another example of selfless service, cliché power and training not their motive,
These fine guardians know the true cost of keeping Liberty’s Light.

Followers of freedom always looking for a hero.
Yet examples are all around them, played out again and again.
With careful attention, every so often a revelation comes to a follower of freedom,
and realize that Heroes of Freedom can sometimes even be found within.
