"Big O" aftermath - some reflections...
~
I am heartened.
I am definitely not euphoric. Nor celebrating. There's work to be done.
It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds.
- John Adams
Out of curiousity, I perused the blogs/discussions of both the right and left. The same hateful rhetoric is being spewed both directions.
Most people just don't get it.
As I wrote on What predictions have come true in your life? -
Perhaps the time for both sides (the "major" two political parties) to put the hate, the baked-in mean of red, blue, orange, and green memes mostly celebrated by the two parties, behind us.
I was definitely not "for" Obama as a candidate (in case there's any confusion, neither was I "for" McCain). I'm one of those rare fraction of a percentage point people that does not believe the Tier I politics of either party is our salvation. It is all "more of the same," at least from a party platform perspective.
Yet, while I was not "for" Obama as a candidate, he has my respect as a President Elect, and on January 20th, will have my unfailing support as the President. Will I agree with everything he does? Hell no! Yet, he, and my elected officials, will hear about it when he doesn't.
He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppositiion; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach himself."
- Thomas Paine
We need to rationally support the President, and as free individuals exercise our RESPONSIBILITY to disagree when the time comes. Mind you I said "disagree," not "belittle," "slander," "spew rhetoric" in taking the lead as to what the far Left did with Bush. Yes, Bush was wrong, but slinging hate is more so.
"Those who expect to reap the blessings of liberty must undergo the fatiques of supporting it."
- Thomas Paine
The time is to roll up our sleeves and continue to do what is "right."
You must not only aim right, but draw the bow with all your might.
- Henry David Thoreau
Ironic how it is that often those who "draw" and those who "aim" are different groups.
Assuming that U.S. voters have collectively managed to "aim right," now is the time embark on the truly hard task - one that requires strength - to draw the bow.

it's amazing, hm? I spent some time yesterday holding a place in my heart for the half of this country who woke up devastated and scared.
Another Chris wrote a beautiful note about our (the people's) role of continuing to be the lungs for the government–and to keep pumping fresh air into those chambers. I think Obama did beautifully in reminding us of that need for ongoing 'inspiration,' and I hope people continue to keep breathing life in that direction.
Yes, thank you for the link, and thank you for stopping by.
I think it most important that those who did not support the candidacy, such as I, to step forward now and express their support.
The rhetoric is amazing. What truly baffles me is those that spew it quite obviously did not give equal air time to the two primary candidates. Then there's the few, who supported one or the other, or neither, who were responsibly attentive to both. Gleaning the good from both, frowning upon the mean from both.
Even more amazing? Yet another peaceful transition of government … and it has become par for course to us. That is every bit as historic…
With you on this blog, our MP's and your representatives all have websites, my MP hears from me if I have a concern or suggestion. It took ten years of badgering to get proper assesment centres for the mentally ill, until recently in our area they were put in police cell for a day or two for their own safety till they could be assessed, regardless of whether they committed a crime, I had a letter from my MP this year to say money had been allocated for emergency admission centres for the mentally ill.
I do think it's incredibly sad that pres elect Obama, has to stand between bullet proof screens, there is no excuse for murder, least of all for his colour or politics.
Yet another peaceful transition of government
So far so good, says my negative-mind.
Love all the quotes, thanks !!! And your words ain't bad, either !!!!!!
How ancient is that archer photo? It looks intriguing.

The pictograph was created only about 3000-5000 years before present.
Thanks for stopping by and reading!
Not liking anything political (it's a front for the actual governing going on at the highest levels…lol!) and having not followed any of the goings on, I would like to add here though that Obama has a good “feel”.
When I saw his interview by Oprah quite a while ago, I sensed something special about him. As this is how I intuitively work, I trust that the universe has a special job for him, and the fact that his election came at the end of the 5th Night/beginning of the 6th Day period of the Mayan Calendar's Galactic Underworld time (the shift to Ethics) is, I think, very significant!
Things are GOING to change, and I have a feeling he will be the right person to be there, holding the reins…now, IF he also applies some of Rudi Guiliani's governing methods, I think the USA will have a chance!
Thoughtfully yours
Marlene
