What about the power to have and spead joy?

Hmmm, perhaps you have a point there, TadHead. But maybe the power to have and spread joy is really empowerment, now a separate concept. In Emerson's day, the latter was understood by some, but not a separate concept.

Ooo, I like where this is going. I believe the FIrst Law of Thermodynamics states
“Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only change forms.”
In any process, the total energy of the universe remains the same.
To put it simply you must have power to transfer it to someone else, thus empowering them. But the only way to empower is to relinquish power over the concept to the other person. And now we have brought the conversation full circle!

Indeed, this has been fascinating!
I am not sure the laws of physics apply to the inter-personal or the spiritual realms. For example, I can relinquish “power” in these realms, yet there is no law to ensure that it is “absorbed” elsewhere - if meant for you, you may choose to not take it.
In a way, the “power” is in my mind, but does not really exist.
The laws apply in these realms but not so much in a linear fashion as in the physical. When you relinquish “power” in these realms, even if “I” don't accept this power, “you” are still empowered by the action of releasing. So “you” absorb the power as well as giving “me” the chance to absorb it. From a linear stand point you could be tricked into thinking that this is a creation of “power” but in these realms “power” is infinite so it is really just creating a way to access this “power”.
Unless your mind exists somewhere outside of reality, then the “power” in your mind is very real even if that is the only place it exists.
