I've Been Everywhere, man!
This must be "look at Kit's goals" worldwide celebration week.
You see, I have been asked in mail about the second and third goals. Really - an eerie number of requests.
So, here we go. My second goal is "To have been everywhere!"
To the numerous "WTF do you mean by THAT?!?!?" I humbly offer the following explanation.
To have been everywhere!
In an esoteric sense (yup, crank up your sitar for cool background music - go ahead, add some "oms" for atmospherics, too), to advance to the point where I am and have been everywhere.
In a more whimsical sense, to have been everywhere listed in Johnny Cash's "I've Been Everywhere."
I think I have a good start to this goal. Below, are all those places from the song.
Italics means "Yup, I've been there."
Italics and Underlined means "In your face, not only been there, but lived there! Whaddya think of them apples?"
Bold means "Gotta go to this place."

You know, I ain't seen one of those silly "tag" events in some while. Far be it for me to admit I found amusement in those things, but here we are at far be it. I like 'em. There, are you happy? So, I think I'll try to tag some of my friends to see where they've been. If you'd like to play, go ahead and leave the link in the comment. I'd love to see where you've been.

This song was written for you :-)
“I've been to Canaan and I won't rest until I go back again” ~ Carole King
thinking more about this, Kit, (sorry, i just love saying that, Kit, Kit, Kit… great nickname), I realise that - forgive me - who cares about most of these places? I'm not an American and not a real fan of country music by any means. I have been many places in the world but they don't “count” here, do they? It seems odd to me. Anyway, fun game for Americans! hugs!
Indeed, who cares. Yet, fun game for ANYONE, in my opinion. For example, I am absolutely enthralled and informed by some of the places you have been. I find it intriquing.
I care!
Travelling is an adventure for the entire universe.
Okay, Christopher, this simple little task, I have surely over complicated! It is a test of following instructions and then adding way too much thinking! Did he say to put the link in this comment? Why would I do that? Your link or my link? As I scratch my head about all of that, I figure that there is already a master list, so I'm only going to put where I've been and where I'm going. I don't care about the “Nope” category, do you? Well too late now! It's gone! So I've now re-arranged and organised your list (like my closet), so that at a glance, it makes perfect sense! Good grief! A drink sounds really good at this point. I haven't had one of those in over 23 years. Maybe today is not the day to start that up again! I think I'll take a rest instead…

Yes! Take Kingston, Jamaica. Better than any US Kinsgston, I have no doubt. Besides, I took some liberties and license on place names myself!
I love the list. Very, very well organized, a task for certain that was somewhat arduous, which caused a moment of guilt. Yet, seeing where anyone has been, and their migrations, is absolutely fascinating to me, so thank you!
Hey, you are welcome! Many of the places on my “nope never been” list, are probably there, because I don't know anything about them or where on earth they are! Not having grown up in this awesome land, I am discovering much of its rich geography and history through teaching my children school. It has been a surprisingly delightful experience learning and re-learning. Reminds me that I want to add Santa Fe to my list of places to go. Isn't that your neck of the woods?
Well, i've been to Kingston Jamaica and Kingston Ontario… I know which one I find more interesting LOL! love you, Kit. And not to worry, Kathy, I was just feeling grumpy :) of course i care…

Joshua -
Thanks, brother! The more I read of my friends' travels, the more fascinated I become.
Joy -
As usual, you bring a new idea. Trip Advisor - brilliant idea. It can be done in google earth, too, since I have a couple of travelling items that get logged by folks, and watch the lines zoom across the earth. One of the items (a “Travel Bug”) is re-creating my travels in an attempt to catch up to me presently, in essence building the “lines” and “distance” on google earth.
With all my friends - I am beginning to hugely appreciate the underlines of where we have lived. That tells so much about us…
Nicola -
Yes, Santa Fe is (relatively) in my neck of the woods. However, there's a huge difference between the northern part of New Mexico and the southern part. Santa Fe is about 4 and a half hours north of where I now live. We were going to make the trip this weekend to Santa Fe and Angelfire - but alas, the gas prices, and my own rantings as of late about carbonic acid oceans has caused me to revisit long driving plans for but a few days of adventure.
one of these days i hope my travels will bring me to you Kit! it would be great
Oh I've been to Georgia, and California, and everywhere I could run
took the hand of a preacher man, and we made love in the sun,
I've been undressed by kings, and I've seen some things,
that a woman aint sposed to see,
I've been to Paradise,
but I've never been to me
- know that song?
I've been lotsa places in reality and in my dreams and my reveries, and I've dived ceep down into my soul and hopefully the souls of others.
I could go on and on, but I risk loosing you and being Blamefully Boring instead of Wonderfully witty & Excitingly Entertaining, & Awsomely Absolutely Amazing,
My point is ”it's not necessarily the physical places I've been that count's, it's often where I've been in my head and Spiritually, that counts'
Have I lost you yet?
Thanks for hanging in there & hanging around- you see- you have travelled inside my head a little now and you haven't moved physically and neither have I,
blessings, Mike Dineen
Nope, you haven't lost me.
I think what counts are those physical places, and where we've gone in our head, gone spiritually, and all the above where we've gone as individuals or with others.
It is the Journey of life that I love -
and just playing with a familar tune and reflecting on the beautiful sights of those physical places that were encountered on the journey.
“If you're bent wi' arthritis,
Your bowels have got Colitis,
You've gallopin' bollockitis,
And you're thinkin' it's time you died.
If you been a man 'o action,
Though you're lying there in traction,
You will get some satisfaction
Thinkin', “Jesus, at least I tried.”
I've roamed through all the nations
In delight of all creations,
And enjoyed a wee sensation,
Where the company, it was kind.
And when partin' was no pleasure,
I've drunk another measure,
To the good friends that we treasure
For they always are in our mind.”
